Cheeyappara Waterfalls

Cheeyapara Yappara Falls is a famous waterfall located on the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway between Neriyamangalam in Ernakulam district and Adimali in Idukki district. It is a must visit place for travelers to Munnar via Neriyamangalam and Adimali. The waterfall cascades down seven tiers and flows under the road to join the river at Neriyamangalat. This waterfall, abundant during the year, dries up in the summer. However, during the summer when the forest area was rich, the place was also prosperous. Forest areas such as Ozhuvattadam and Walara have been cut down and have become victims of the falls. In summer, when the flow of water in the stream flowing from Ozhuvattadam region stops, the waterfall dries up. All the tourists going to Munnar stop here and visit the falls, so this area gets very crowded. Descending there is dangerous as there is a powerful waterfall during the rainy season. The falls can be reached by traveling 20 km on the Munnar road from Neriyamangalam – Adimali National Highway.
