Chembra Peak

Chembra near Mepadi in Wayanad is an ideal place for nature lovers and adventure seekers. With the support of the local forest department, visiting this place is easy. Trekking to Chembra Peak requires permission from Meppadi Forest Office. After getting the permission a guide appointed by the forest department will help you continue the journey. The initial leg of the journey to Chembra is a 5 km trek through the beautiful tea plantations of Erumakolli.

The climb to Chembra Peak takes about 3 hours and only 200 visitors are allowed each day. Passes are available from the forest office till 12 noon or can be purchased online. The District Tourism Promotion Council provides guides and trekking equipment on hire. During the trek, a watch tower offers breath-taking views, while at the summit lies a heart-shaped lake known as ‘Hridayasaras’. The entire trek spans around 4.5 km and usually takes 3-4 hours to complete. September to January is the best time for this adventure.
